ALAMO HISTORY
Alamo Electronics was originally founded in 1947 by Charles Eilenberg. In partnership with San Antonio-based Southern Music, Eilenberg originally began with radios before producing his first guitar amplifiers and instruments in1949. Selling exclusively through distributors such as Bruno and Sons, Alamo grew and also manufactured under name Aloha and served popular interests in Hawaiian music of the era by producing lap steels as well as electric guitars with accompanying amps.
Alamo held a strong regional presence and became known as a formidable Texas-based alternative to popular west-coast brands of the era and offered many accessible student models and larger wattage professional models for touring pros. Alamo continued to make guitars and amplifiers through the surf craze of the early 1960s and adopted changes to cabinet and chassis styles throughout the 1960s. Moving into the solid state era, Alamo saw a shift into different tastes and styles, and ultimately disbanded in 1982.
With the re-founding of Alamo Electric Instrument Co., the heritage and craftsmanship of the Alamo heyday are reimagined and captured in the spirit of this golden era with all-tube, point-to-point guitar amps handmade in Texas.
